Andrea Robertson earned both her Master of Fine Arts in Directing and her Bachelor of Arts in Theatre with a minor in Music at Western Illinois University. She is one of two certified teachers with the Society of American Fight Directors in the state of Arizona. Andrea has worked professionally as a Fight Director, choreographing such theatre shows as The Scarlet Pimpernel, Romeo and Juliet, Robin Hood, Spamalot, and Deathtrap; Operas for the Arizona Opera including Frankenstein, Tosca, Carmen, Riders of the Purple Sage, Silent Night, Otello, Lucia Di Lamermoor, and Romeo et Juliette; as well as several films including End of the Road and Out of Reach. She has also performed stage combat in her roles as an actor such as Grace O’Malley in The Pirate Queen, Ybarra in Zorro and Joan of Arc in Blood Royal. Ever since picking up a rapier and dagger in college she has felt her true passion – “It was like coming home.” Her teaching has been full of variety in both location, including Illinois, Colorado, and Arizona among several other states, and in age range. She has taught elementary students up, even as far as working with stage combatants in their seventies. Currently she is the Director of Theatre at Paradise Valley Community College as well as working as a Fight Director around the Valley of the Sun.
